Ron Lindeboom has a wide ranging background in areas ranging from sales and marketing to corporate finance management and consulting. He has consulted with some of the biggest names in the high tech arena. He has also consulted with local banks in Central California where he worked with troubled accounts to help turn-around companies whose futures were in question. This led to his three year tenure as the managing editor for Pacific Coast Business Magazine. Always open to unorthodox ideas to build mindshare on limited budgets, Ron eschewed the customary "guy in a three piece suit" for beautiful nature covers that rivaled National Geographic. This, in an effort to win over busy professionals to the direct-mail local business publication. "It worked fabulously," says Ron. "Not only did the owners and managers it was targeted at, notice and respond favorably to the magazine but years after leaving PCBM, I would still see copies in doctor's office waiting rooms and other offices. I once asked a secretary why she didn't throw them away when they were old. She just smiled and said that '...they are just too beautiful to throw away.' While with PCBM, I became friends with many business leaders whose own insights changed my life forever. It was a great experience and I also became friends with respected political leaders like California Assemblyman Eric Seastrand and President Reagan's Director of Veteran Affairs, Bob Nimmo." His work with PCBM led to his being invited by Dean Walters of Cal Poly University in San Luis Obispo to guest on high tech roundtables, etc. He also became a consultant to many of the instructors at both Cal Poly and Cuesta College due to his pioneering efforts with desktop publishing and imaging technology in the very beginnings of the desktop revolution in 1985.

Ron is also an artist and designer with a real appreciation for the Net and other new media technologies. His love of the Net wasn't developed as quickly as some of his other technological interests though... "To be honest, I ignored many of my friends who tried to push me onto the Net earlier," says Ron, "because I thought that the whole BBS/modem/Internet thing was just too 'geeky' of a time-waster for me -- I don't play computer games and I didn't think that the Internet would be anything of interest either. But when I finally did go online back in 1994, I was astounded by what I saw. I immediately recognized the opportunities for individuals, smaller- and even mid-sized companies to compete against the giants. With the right idea, even an individual can compete against companies like IBM and win the battle in key market niches. On the Net, it's all about the strength of the idea."

Ron is an animator/compositor and editor whose background includes working with Media 100, Scitex Sphere, Avid Xpress Elite, Adobe After Effects and Premiere. He also uses many other tools and plug-ins along with the web tools he uses.

He has been featured in numerous articles in magazines such as MacWEEK, The Net, Videography and SatVision, among others. He has been a guest on high tech-related TV shows like "Window on Wall Street" and "CyberVision."

He and his wife, Kathlyn, worked on each of the first two volumes of Artbeats "ReelFire" and "ReelExplosions" stock footage series -- which have since been used in major movies like Spawn, Star Trek "Insurrection", Starship Troopers and many others. Anyone watching The Learning Channel, History Channel or many other cable networks sees these effects daily.

At the 1999 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Expo and Conference in Las Vegas, he was honoured by his peers with the "Vision Award" for his pioneering work on behalf of the Media 100 online user community.

There's a principle locked away in human nature that if you understand it, it gives you one of the keys you need to make your own business more successful. It's a principle that I call "Clients or Grinders" and once you hear it, you'll know why... Over the years, I have shared this principle with many and my wife would tell you that I get more mail and thanks from this one article than all the other articles combined that I've written over the years.
